Oremos pela igreja perseguida!/ Let's pray for the persecuted church

Em tudo somos atribulados, mas não angustiados; perplexos, mas não desanimados.

Perseguidos, mas não desamparados; abatidos, mas não destruídos;Trazendo sempre por toda a parte a mortificação do Senhor Jesus no nosso corpo, para que a vida de Jesus se manifeste também nos nossos corpos. E assim nós, que vivemos, estamos sempre entregues à morte por amor de Jesus, para que a vida de Jesus se manifeste também na nossa carne mortal.

No dia 25/05, tive a honra de pregar na Igreja Batista Independente em São Lourenço da Mata (Pernambuco, Brasil). Foi um culto muito especial, pois ali pude presenciar e conhecer como funciona o DIP (Dia da Igreja Perseguida), evento promovido pela organização “Portas Abertas” e que tem o objetivo de engajar a Igreja brasileira na causa dos cristãos perseguidos simplesmente por amarem e seguirem a Jesus. Pude compartilhar minhas experiências de perseguições de quando estava no norte da Nigéria e também mobilizar os cristãos presentes a orarem e se preocuparem com a igreja perseguida.

We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. On May 25th I had the honor to preach at Batista Independente Church (Pernambuco State, Brazil). It was a very special service since I could witness and know how DIP (an acronym in Portuguese for “Sunday of the Persecuted Church”) works, an event promoted by Open Doors organization which aims to engage the Brazilian Church in the cause of the persecuted Christians just because they love and follow Jesus. I could share my experiences of persecutions that I had when I was living in the north of Nigeria and I could also mobilize the Christians present there to pray and care about the persecuted church.

Clube de Inglês Ceress/ Ceress English Club

No dia 26/04 tive a oportunidade de participar do clube de inglês organizado pela Ceress Consultoria Pedagógica e Empresarial. O tema central foi a Páscoa; falei da forma nigeriana de celebrar a Páscoa.  Além disso, pude também compartilhar mais da cultura da Nigéria (culinária, roupas, costumes, política, etc).

Apesar de a Páscoa ter algumas diferenças na forma de comemoração entre os países, o motivo de se comemorar é universal: celebrar a morte e a ressurreição de Jesus Cristo, nosso salvador.

On April 26th I had the opportunity to be part of Ceress Consultoria Pedagógica e Empresarial English Club. The central theme was the Easter. I talked about the Nigerian way of Easter celebration. Besides that, I could also share about Nigeria culture (cuisine, clothes, customs, politics, etc).

Even though Easter has different ways of celebration among the countries, the reason for commemorating is universal: to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, our Savior.

O testemunho/ The testimony

 "Ó Senhor, Senhor nosso, a tua grandeza é vista no mundo inteiro. O louvor dado a ti chega até o céu e é cantado pelas crianças e pelas criancinhas de colo. Tu construísse uma fortaleza para te proteger dos teus inimigos, para acabar com todos que te desafiam" (Salmos 8:1-2)

No dia 26/04, fui convidado para participar de um culto infantil no Templo Evangélico Nova Aliança em Cristo (TENAC) no bairro do Ibura de Baixo, na cidade do Recife. Foi muito bom celebrar ao Senhor juntamente com as crianças. Tive a oportunidade de dar uma palavrinha; compartilhei o que Deus pôs em meu coração a respeito do Salmos 8:1-2.  A palavra não foi apenas para as crianças, mas também diretamente para os pais.

Para as crianças, falei que o nosso Pai celestial nos criou perfeitamente, que nós somos uma obra prima aos olhos de Deus, e que se algum coleguinha disse "você não é legal!" ou coisas parecidas, saiba que Deus ama você e que Ele perfeitamente te criou. Ao final, uma das "tias" compartilhou um testemunho; uma das crianças disse para ela que  antes estava se sentindo triste porque alguém havia falado coisas ruins para ela na escola, mas que agora ela sabe que Deus a ama e que ela é uma obra prima nas mãos de Deus. 

Eu fiquei muito feliz em ouvir isso, e em ver que Deus estava trabalhando no coração daquelas crianças.

“LORD, our Lord, how majesty is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory in the heavens. Through the praise of the children and infants you have established a stronghold against your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.” (Psalm 8:1-2)

On 26th of April, 2014, I was invited to participate in a children's worship program in a church called Templo Evangélico Nova Aliança em Cristo ( TENAC ) in Ibura de Baixo, a community in the city of Recife . It was wonderful to celebrate the Lord with the children. I had the opportunity to share what God put in my heart about Psalms 8:1-2 . The word was not just for the kids, but also for the parents.
For the kids, I tried to encourage them about how our Heavenly Father created us perfectly, I told them that we are masterpiece in the eyes of God, and if a friend says that you are not good or that you are not important the truth is that God loves you and that He created you perfectly for His glory. At the end, one of the “aunts " shared a testimony; one of the child told her that before she was feeling sad because someone had said bad things to her at school , but now she knows that God loves her and she is a masterpiece in God's eyes.I was very glad to hear this testimony , and to see that God was working in the heart of those children.

Crianças em Risco, JOCUM Recife/ Children at Risk, YWAM Recife

 Ao andar pelas ruas e avenidas das grandes cidades brasileiras, não é difícil encontrar pessoas que não têm um lugar para morar, e assim, fazem desses ambientes um lar. Algo que chama muito a atenção é o fato de que crianças também partilham dessa realidade, vivendo em péssimas condições de vida. Além disso, essas crianças estão expostas a diversas situações de risco: à fome, trazendo uma consequente carência de nutrientes essenciais à saúde; à condições precárias de higiene, o que leva à doenças; à exposição a perigos, principalmente à violência que uma vida na rua pode oferecer.  No Brasil, aproximadamente sete milhões de crianças vivem na rua. Não apenas no Brasil, mas no mundo todo, milhões de crianças vivem em situações de risco como essas. Sendo assim, a Jocum Recife promove um curso chamado “Crianças em Risco”, que tem como objetivo alcançar crianças em situação de risco e trazer o conhecimento do amor de Deus por elas.  Eu irei participar deste curso, e sinto que será uma experiência inesquecível e desafiadora. Tenho certeza que este será um tempo de novas aprendizagens e crescimento, para honra e glória de nosso Deus. O curso inicia no dia 27/04 e tem o seu término no dia 12/10.

When walking along the streets and roads of the big cities of Brazil, it is not hard to find people that don’t have a place to live, and so, they use these environments as a home. Something that draws our attention is that children are also part of this reality, living in bad conditions of live. Moreover, these children are exposed to various situations of risk such as famine, which brings a consequent lack of essential nutrients for health; poor hygiene, which leads to diseases; exposure to dangers, primarily to the violence that a homeless life can offer.  In Brazil, approximately seven million children live in the streets. Not only in Brazil, but also in the whole world, millions of children live at these risky situations. Thus YWAM Recife is promoting a course called “Children at Risk”, which aims to reach out children at risk situations and bring to them the knowledge of God’s love. I will be part of this school and I feel that it will be an unforgettable and challenging experience. I am sure it will be a time of learning and growth for the honor and glory of our God.  The school will start on April 27^th and will be finished on October 12^th.
